Washington Mystics WNBA Team Host “Get Movin’ Family Fun Day” in Leesburg

Here is an opportunity for your whole family to join in the fun and get some exercise pointers, as well.  Although it is not bicycle oriented, we believe that anything we can do to get our kids out and moving is beneficial.

On Saturday, September 24 from 11 am to 5 pm the Washington Mystics WNBA Team and INOVA Health System are hosting “Get Movin’ Family Fun Day.”

Thursday, September 22 is Car Free Day, a worldwide event that encourages all of us to rely less on cars and instead use alternatives such as transit, bicycling, walking, teleworking and ridesharing. By using these methods residents, employees, students, homemakers and seniors throughout the Washington metropolitan region will help reduce their carbon footprint and decrease traffic congestion. 

Bicyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Week, September 11-17

September 11-17th, 2011 is Virginia’s third annual Bicyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Week.

DRIVE SMART VIRGINIA and BikeWalk Virginia, are working together to help improve understanding and create awareness of ways to reduce roadway injuries and fatalities. Funding for the awareness campaign is being provided by the Virginia Highway Safety Office at DMV.
