Board of Supervisors Public Comment Session
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will vote July 21st on whether or not to allow more -- and much needed -- time for the Planning Commisisioners to work on the Countywide Transportation Plan. We encourage your comments in support of the additional time.
What to do
Send an email to your Supervisor before July 21. More importantly, come speak at the BOS’s public comment period on Monday, July 20.
Comments may also be sent to the Board by calling the Citizen Comment Line, 703-777-0115.
What to say
At this point, it’s important to recognize the Planning Commission’s hard work while still encouraging the BOS to take the time to get it right, identify sources of money for new modeling, etc. Focus on the outcome you would like to see (i.e. a CTP that is fiscally constrained, matches the Comp Plan, prioritizes bike & pedestrian safety, public transit etc) rather than the timeline.
The next step
The BOS will decide whether to give the Planning Commission more time to work on the CTP on July 21st. It’s a bit tricky from here, because:
1) The Planning Commission has worked really hard on this so far, giving up evenings and weekends, to make some improvements to the CTP – but
2) Concerns remain about the modeling and principles upon which the CTP is premised.
Please contact us or the Coalition for Smarter Growth if you have additional questions or would like more guidance.
